Basic Théâtral

Exhibiting the reproductions safeguard the originals from further decay.

The Lascaux caves (France)

Since 1979 Basic Théâtral de Lyon in France has undertaken for frenchMuseums a portable structure for a life-size copy of the Lascaux Caves.

This was the first time these techniques were used.

The Sennefer’s tomb (Egypt)

Since then Basic Théatral de Lyon has built the structure for two replicas of Sennefer’s Tomb. These can be dismantled and after an international tour one of them has been aquired by the Egyptologic museum of Le Mans.

The museum G. Hildesheim, having seen this facsimile in Cologne, ordered another. Many Germans had seen the replica on tour.

The frescoes of Santorin (Greece)

Now Basic Théâtral de Lyon has aquired rights to the manufacturing process of photographic transfers. The developpment ot these replicas is made under the name of Transfert Relief.

This special process uses

-                    the photogrammétriques

-                    the photographiques

-                    the colourtriques.

This new approach has recently been applied to the 41 actually knowned frescoes of Santorin on behalf of the Fondation Thera.

The quality of these copies has attracted general public acclaim as well as real scientific interest. The photographic transfer technique is totally accurable, much more faithful to the original than the reproduction by a painter.

These photographic transfer techniques enable us to make replicas which are both exciting and convincing to the scientist and layman alike good theatre scenery it is simple to assemble and light enough to transport. But do not forget its most important feature which is the preservation of the originals.
