The Greek sister company of the Thera Foundation
The IDRYMA THERAS is the Greek sister company of the THERA FOUNDATION. Created in 1993 to further enhance the support of the excavations in Akrotiri, it is aiming at increasing awareness and sensitivity in the Greek population.
Events such as scientific seminars, congresses, research programs, and educational programs were held. The IDRYMA THERAS also targets the youth, and organized three educational activities, at the Greek’s children Museum, at the Musem of Cycladic art, and at the 1rs Ephorate of the Acropolis. Other educational programs were held at various schools, as the multimedia presentation “Aegean, or as we say in Greece” and “Macedonia – the Great Journey” was presented to the children of the secondary schools of Thera in 1996. This event was sponsored by the National Bank of Greece.
Working in line with its sister company, they together have a greatest impact. Archeological excavations, analysis, restoration and safekeeping of the ancient findings are cost worthy, and it is because of these two sister foundations that the researches still go on. The Foundation has many benefactor to thank, donators, and sponsors, that made its goal possible to reach.
Today, hard work is still pursued.
