PHASE A, Early Initative, 2005. Thera Foundation, personnel Peter C Nomikos Jr. was invited on a 10 Day research expedition to the Galapagos Submarine Rift Valley some 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador and approximately 200 miles from the Galapagos Islands. PHASE B, 2006 Collaborative Submarine Volcanology Expedition for 2006: The Thera Foundation is collaborating with Woods Hole Deep Submergence Laboratory personnel on the 2006 Aegean deep water Archaeology and Volcanology program.

Phase A, 2005, Thera Foundation, personnel Peter C Nomikos Jr. was invited on a 10 Day research expedition to the Galapagos Submarine Rift Valley some 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador and approximately 200 miles from the Galapagos Islands. The expedition involved ten 2500 meter deep sampling dives aboard the Alvin and multiple symposiums and research lectures. Also invited was Vinod Koshla (co-founder Sun Microsystems), Dan Dubno (CBS NEWS), and Trustees and members of the WHOI executive staff. The purpose was to create a focus group/think-tank for the next steps in promoting world oceanography. The product of this expedition has been the planning of a small scale think-tank meeting in Santorini during the late summer of 06, working title, “Next Steps in Promoting Global Oceanography. link to; Expedition to the sea-floor 2500 deep: WHOI Dive and Discover's Expedition 9 returned to the Galápagos Rift in 2005

- Phase B Collaborative Submarine Volcanology Expedition for 2006

Phase B, 2006
Collaborative Submarine Volcanology Plans for 2006: The Thera Foundation is collaborating with Woods Hole Deep Submergence Laboratory personnel on the 2006 Aegean deep water Archaeology and Volcanology program. This project will involve; mapping using high resolution side scan sonar, mosaic photographing, and in-situ chemical analysis of three sites. The team will survey two wrecks and the Colombo volcano. The wrecks will include a Byzantine wreck off the cost of Halikidiki and Classical wreck near the Island of Kythonos. The Thera Foundation will provided, shore-side resources for the expedition, including laboratories, supplies, logistics, transportation and accommodation. Find below associated links.
