Radiocarbon Dates from the Site of Akrotiri, Thera, 1967 - 1977: Addendum
Through the good offices of Dr. Christos Doumas, five additional samples were obtained. All were secured in 1976 and came from Room 5 in the West House, that is, from the destruction level. They comprise the 2700 series and are the five last entries on the graph.
Unfortunately, the same sort of picture emerged as previously, again compounded by the fact that three of the five samples were undersized. Of the remaining two, one (P - 2794) confirms the traditional date, the other (P - 2791) an earlier date. The dates of two of the undersized samples (P - 2793 and P - 2795) span both the traditional date and the earlier date originally proposed by me - and thus lose significance.
P - 2792 is aberrant, as were the two samples in the 2500 series (P - 2560 and P - 2561).
